Mike Elliott
Mike Elliott is a throwback here at Sound In Motion:
instead of just going through the rigorous, intensive SIM Training program, he actually “apprenticed”, if you will, as SIM owner Adrian Cavlan’s assistant for two and a half years before becoming a full-fledged SIM DJ. The experience he gained from this was invaluable.
It all began, however, at age 16, when Mike got his first taste of DJing and event hosting by producing and promoting the first of three annual summer festivals in his native Stockton, CA. He then continued to pursue his interest in performing arts in high school as a participant in talent shows, Japanese Taiko drumming, and as the lead singer in a band.
After high school, it was on to UC Santa Cruz where as a student, he co-hosted a Funk/Soul/Hip-Hop show on KZSC for 2 years. Additionally, he began to DJ for SIM during this time and started on the road to becoming one of Santa Cruz’s hottest nightclub DJs by hosting a very popular Thursday night party at Club Caution. In fact, his excellent work in this endeavor culminated in both he and fellow SIM DJ Kevin O'Scanlon being voted Best Club DJs in Santa Cruz County in the annual Metro magazine reader’s poll!
Mike plans to use his experience as an MC in conjunction with his studies in Earth Sciences to pursue a career as a meteorologist. |
